Beacon starts up with Rental4000Beacon Intermodal Leasing, the newest entrant to the international container leasing market, is to deploy the Rental4000 lease management solution from Real Asset Management (RAM) plc, provider of specialist asset and business management software to the container and intermodal industries. Launched onto the market this November, Beacon Intermodal Leasing is a division of Boston-based BTMU Capital Corporation (BTMUCC), itself a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ. BTMUCC has been active for many years in financing fleet container acquisitions and has now decided to build its own leasing division. The US-headquartered start-up is currently putting together an experienced management team which is expected to be in place by the end of 2007. Drawing on BMTUCC’s access to substantial financial resources, Beacon will be internally funded and has already invested in a pool of 40ft high cube reefers and 40ft high cube standard dry freight units, as well as the RAM software. “Our main reason for selecting Rental4000 was our past history and relationship with the company,” says Dan DeBlasio, a member of the new Beacon management team. “As a former executive at Carlisle Leasing, the partnership we created with RAM was critical to our success. We expect that re-establishing this relationship will be an important factor in the future success of Beacon Intermodal.” Beacon says that as a start-up, an early investment in the RAM software will support the company in establishing good business procedures from day one across sales, financial and operational management. “Rental4000 provides us with a platform that will support our goal of building $500M in container assets in 5 years and will enable us to manage these assets over their full life cycle” says DeBlasio. “We navigated through other software options available in the industry, but there is nothing close to what RAM has to offer in terms of price, service and functionality.” “We are delighted to have been chosen to support this exciting start-up and look forward to supporting the Beacon team in the years ahead,” says Nicola Byers, marketing manager for RAM plc. |
