LSG Sky Chefs Soars with Asset4000

The world's largest provider of integrated in-flight solutions, Lufthansa’s LSG Sky Chefs, manages over 8,000 assets with the help of Real Asset Management International (RAMI)

The North American Region of LSG Sky Chefs has implemented our asset management software (Asset4000), a best of breed fixed asset management solution, in a drive to satisfy internal governance requirements by accurately accounting for and tracking its asset base. Synonymous with years of excellence and quality, LSG Sky Chefs is the world’s largest provider of in-flight solutions specializing in catering, procurement, equipment, retail and in-flight management.

The North American Region of LSG Sky Chefs, which services over 200 clients with the help of 7,500 employees, has 8,000 assets spread across 52 US offices. Prior to acquiring Asset4000, the company utilized an asset management tool offered as an extension of their general ledger system. However, Martin Bradley, General Accounting Manager for LSG Sky Chefs’ North American Region, turned to RAMI in search of a more robust system, and that’s just what he found. Bradley needed a more user-friendly system that was easier to work with and from which information could be easily extracted. “The scope and scalability of Asset4000 and its ability to integrate with the other Series4000 modules, as well as all of the leading GL packages, were key factors in our decision to go with RAMI. With price also impacting the final purchase decision, this system certainly offers the most bang for your buck,” said Bradley.

By having appropriate depreciation methods in place and being able to accurately forecast depreciation for any range of accounting periods, Bradley can now confidently provide comprehensive reports, allowing for more informed management decision making. Asset4000 also ensures full control of the audit process, enabling Bradley to manage physical audits for all locations. He is confident now that the company’s assets are being managed to the best of his ability.

“We were very impressed with the way RAMI worked within such quick timescales. We purchased the system in December, implementation took place in February and we were noticing results by May, specifically, with overall control and the accuracy of reports. The timesaving benefits are enormous. Month end reports used to take 8 hours to generate and the data was often inaccurate. Today, those same reports take an hour and a half to run and I can actually rely on the data,” said Bradley.

Future plans for the North American Region of LSG Sky Chefs are certain to include RAMI. Plans for implementing additional Series4000 modules including Forecast4000, Project Management Software (Project4000) and Asset Tracking software (Track4000) are currently in the pipeline. In particular, LSG is planning to utilize RAMI software to track maintenance and repairs for catering trucks and computers.
